Marina Bitsaki is a researcher at University of Crete. She received her B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the Mathematics Department, National & Capodistrian University of Athens in 1996, her M.Sc. degree in Statistics and Operational Research from theMathematics Department, University of Essex in 1998, and her Ph.D. degree in ComputerScience from the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete in 2004. From 2005 until 2011 she was a visiting professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics,University of Crete. Since 2006 she is a Researcher at the Transformation ServicesLaboratory at the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete. Her currentresearch interests include the following areas:

  • Multi-Agent Systems: Design and development of economic models for the analysis ofthe evolution of dynamic and distributed systems using game theoretic tools andoperational research
  • Service Science: Modeling and analysis of complex service systems for decision makingbased on utility theory and game theory
  • Business Process Management and Service Value Networks: Design, modeling andmanagement of business processes and services in value networks. Analyze optimisationtechniques to address the problem of optimising and transforming business processes.Identify Key Performance Indicators and quantitatively measure them. Analyzecompeting service networks applying game theoretic tools.
  • Auction Theory: Development of auction mechanisms to allocate bandwidth ormultidimensional network contracts to end-users efficiently, satisfying the objective ofincentive compatibility. Development of hierarchical auction formats to allocate networkresources in multiple levels in the presence of intermediaries/retailers.
  • Other: Queuing Theory, Operational Research, Applied Probabilities, StochasticProcesses, Statistics.
